The topic today: How to use the Wipeout command in AutoCAD 2023.

In AutoCAD 2023 and the same previous version, the Wipeout command is an essential tool for every designer, allowing users to create a masking region to hide parts of a drawing temporarily or permanently. This guide will walk you through the process of using the Wipeout command in AutoCAD 2023 effectively.

Step 1: Launch AutoCAD 2023

Open your AutoCAD 2023 software and load the drawing file you are working on.

Step 2: Access the Wipeout command

To access the Wipeout command, type “WIPEOUT” in the command line, and press Enter. Alternatively, you can use the “Draw” panel on the “Home” tab, click on the “Wipeout” icon, which resembles a small rectangular area with an X in the center.

Step 3: Choose the drawing method

AutoCAD 2023 presents two ways to create a Wipeout region:

1. Polygonal Wipeout: This method requires you to draw a polygonal region around the area you want to hide. Type “P” in the command line, and press Enter to select the Polygonal option.
2. Frame Wipeout: This option creates a rectangular Wipeout region. Type “F” in the command line, and press Enter to select the Frame option.

Step 4: Define the Wipeout region

For a polygonal Wipeout, click on the points sequentially to create the polygonal area around the portion you want to hide. Press Enter once you have completed the polygon.

For a frame Wipeout, click on two diagonal corners to create the rectangular area.

Step 5: Set the Wipeout object behind other objects

By default, a Wipeout will sit on top of your drawing, hiding the objects within its boundaries. To place the Wipeout object behind other objects, use the “Draw Order” feature, selecting the “Send to Back” option. This action ensures that other objects in your drawing appear on top of the Wipeout region.

Step 6: Modify the Wipeout frame

You can choose to display or hide the frame of the Wipeout region. Type “WIPEOUTFRAME” in the command line, and press Enter. To display the frame, set the value to “1.” To hide the frame, set the value to “0.”

Note: With the help of the Wipeout command in AutoCAD 2023, designers can efficiently manage the visibility of specific portions of their drawings. By following these instructions, users will enhance their AutoCAD experience and harness the power of the Wipeout command for optimal drawing performance.
